
THE BIRTH OF BOLON Nils-Erik Eklund founded Bolon in 1949 in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. He originally wove cotton carpets made from leftover fabrics and later he added vinyl to make the material stronger.
THE INVENTION OF THE ORIGINAL CAMPING CARPET In the early 60’s Nils Erik’s son, Lars Eklund took over the business and invented the awning-mat, the first and only mat to use inside the awning. It was an instant, huge success on the European market.
THE MARKET LEADERS Bolon are today market leaders with this product and are selling to Europe and the US. Today Bolon is owed and run by the third generation, Annica and Marie Eklund. The sisters have developed the business from a traditional awning mat manufacturer to successful international business and world leader in woven vinyl flooring. Exclusive flooring, loved by interior designers, architects and fashion designers over the world.
Bolon now have 53 employees and two different business areas; Contract Flooring and Camping Carpets. 96% of all production goes to exports.
The name Bolon stands for Cotton (Bomull in swedish) and Nylon.
